This weekend sees the deadline for nominations for the Southern Star and Celtic Ross Hotel West Cork Farming Awards, so make sure you get yours in to us either on an entry form from the paper or fill one out online.

We are now looking for nominations from people involved in farming, the agri industry and members of the general public of people they feel are worthy of being considered for these awards. Each category winner will receive a specially-commissioned trophy and a prize to the value of €500.

The technological challenges faced by the agriculture sector will be addressed in ‘Farming 2030’ which is being organised by Ludgate@Skibbereen, as part of National Digital Week.

More than 150 people enjoyed a family-orientated afternoon that celebrated the joys of rural life and living on Sunday afternoon last at the inaugural West Cork Farming Awards presentation ceremony, run by The Southern Star and the Celtic Ross Hotel, in Rosscarbery.

Milk prices may be low at the moment but spirits were high amongst those attending the inaugural West Cork Farming Awards on Sunday last, organised by The Southern Star and the Celtic Ross Hotel, in Rosscarbery. The event was a long-overdue celebration of all that is good in the agricultural community in West Cork, which is such an intrinsic part of local life.
