IF you're looking for something to fight the rainy day blues, we have compiled a list of 5 exciting events taking place across West Cork this coming weekend.

This weekend's events include an Evening with Seán Keane in Castletownbere, a Pop-Up Gaeltacht in Durrus, Ahakeera Drama Group performing their new comedy in Darrara, the Skibbereen Annual Road Races and Walk, and a Shine and Show car event in Newcestown.

An Evening with Seán Keane - Friday February 6th and Saturday February 7th

Renowned Irish artist Seán Keane will be performing in Berehaven Golf Club, Castletownbere this Friday and Saturday at 8pm.

Tickets cost €35 and will support the Stand for Féile fundraising campaign.

Pop-up Gaeltacht at the West Cork Jesters Bakehouse, Durrus - Saturday February 7th

If you're looking to brush up on your Gaeilge this Saturday, the West Cork Jesters are running a pop-up Gaeltacht at their café in Durrus from 11am to 12.30pm.

All levels, including beginners are welcome. Students preparing for upcoming Irish oral examinations are also invited to attend.

 

Separate Beds performed by Ahakeera Drama Group at Darrara Community Centre - Saturday February 7th

Ahakeera Drama Group present their hilarious new comedy, Separate Beds written by Sam Cree, in Darrara Community Centre on Saturday at 8pm.

This laugh-out-loud, heart-warming comedy is set on the eve of a family wedding. The unexpected return of an estranged family member results in chaos. Expect big laughs and great fun!

Noreen McCarthy Memorial Skibbereen 5 Mile & 10 Mile Road Race - Sunday February 8th

The Annual Skibbereen Road Race and Walk will take place this Sunday. Registration starts at 10.30am

Both races and walk start and finish at the entrance to the O Donovan Rossa GAA grounds.

Entry fees are €25 for the 10 mile run, with a start time of 1pm. It costs €20 to enter the 5 mile run, starting at 1.15pm, and walkers pay €10 and begin at 1.30pm.

You can enter at the GAA ground on the day.

 

 

Newcestown Shine and Show Fundraiser - Sunday February 8th

If you're a motor enthusiast then this car show is not to be missed!

The Shine and Show Fundraiser will feature classic cars, sports cars, motorbikes and rally and drift cars.

The display takes place in Newcestown GAA club between 2pm and 4pm.

Donations will be taken on the day, and the event supports the Newcestown Film Awards.
