THE West Cork Academy is gearing up for a brand-new season with the announcement of the region’s U10 and U11 schoolboys’ squads.

West Cork Academy trials are still ongoing ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 SFAI provincial and national schoolboys inter-league campaigns.

The youngest of the Academy’s entrants, U10 schoolboys born in 2016 and U11 schoolboys born in 2015, completed their trials recently and two squads have been finalised for the upcoming season.

Players drawn from eight West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League clubs have been selected to represent their region for the first time at U10 inter-league level.

Bunratty United, Clonakilty AFC, Dunmanway Town and Skibbereen each have four players on the U10 squad. Ardfield (three), Castlelack (three), Beara United and Drinagh Rangers (one each) are also represented.

The new West Cork Academy U11 squad is made of players from Ardfield, Bantry Bay Rovers, Beara United, Castlelack, Clonakilty AFC, Dunmanway Town, Drinagh Rangers, Lyre Rovers and Skibbereen.

A post on the West Cork Academy’s official Facebook page welcomed the region’s newest recruits: ‘This is a special milestone in your football journey. This is a chance to train, grow, and represent West Cork at the highest level of development football. Your hard work, attitude, and love for the game have earned this opportunity, and we can’t wait to see you continue to learn and thrive in the Academy environment.’
