GLAMPING on Bere Island has gotten an upgrade after Wild Atlantic Glamping unveiled six architect-designed, heated luxury pods with private toilets, which owners say will offer guests the chance to enjoy the island’s wild beauty all year round.

The site will retain four traditional bell tents, available from May to August, creating a mix of modern comfort and classic glamping experiences for families, couples, and groups seeking adventure and relaxation.

Each pod features a double bed and a day bed with a pull-out bed for children, making them ideal for couples, friends, or small families.

Inside, guests will find a private toilet and sink, heating, tea and coffee making facilities, and a mini fridge.

The entire front of each pod is fully glazed, allowing visitors to relax while taking in uninterrupted views across Bantry Bay and Hungry Hill.

Guests are welcomed with local treats such as Bere Island honey and Lorge hot chocolate.

Beyond accommodation, Wild Atlantic Glamping offers communal facilities, including a bright indoor room for workshops or gatherings, a shared kitchen, and a covered terrace - ideal for creative or wellness retreats, family holidays, or small events.

‘Our goal was to provide a comfortable, stylish base for visitors to immerse themselves in island life while enjoying unforgettable outdoor experiences,’ said Caitríona Hanley, owner of Wild Atlantic Glamping.

‘Adding the pods was also about extending the season, so guests can enjoy Bere Island beyond the summer months.

‘With the new pods and our retained bell tents, visitors can choose the experience that suits them best, whether it’s classic glamping or a modern island escape.’

Bere Island offers something for every season. In spring, visitors can enjoy the island’s wildflowers and unspoiled natural beauty in a more tranquil setting, perfect for hiking and exploring.

Summer, when the island is at its liveliest with local activity and community life, is perfect for families looking to enjoy outdoor adventures together.

Autumn, also quieter, is ideal for dramatic coastal walks and discovering the island’s scenic landscapes.

In winter, the island’s rugged scenery and peaceful isolation make it perfect for switching off, enjoying quiet reflection, and stargazing along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Sea swimming can be enjoyed at any time of the year for those brave enough to take the plunge.

The pods are open for bookings from May 2026 via the Wild Atlantic Glamping website: www.wildatlanticglamping.ie.
