BANDON teenager Evan Deasy is on the lookout for a new club.
The 18-year-old, who shot to fame last year after being crowned Más+ by Messi 1v1 World Crown winner, is biding his time after terminating his contract with Cobh Ramblers.
He insists his next move must be the right one.

‘The Cobh experience didn’t go to plan. I wasn’t given the opportunities I thought I deserved. I ended up terminating my contract only a couple of weeks after signing an extension. I’m now a free agent,’ he confirmed to The Southern Star.
‘I’m looking for opportunities in different places. Now is the time to go back to America.’
After his spell with Cobh ended, Deasy spent time in Connecticut, where he is originally from. He has since returned to Ireland, but does not intend to stay long-term. The plan is to go back to the United States and continue his development with the Maximum Performance Academy.
‘It’s better not to be rash in making decisions. The academy has given me plenty of opportunities. I was in Italy with them when I played for Pescara. The main thing is to sit back, be patient and make the right decision,’ Deasy explained.
‘I have good people around me. My family and my agent are helping me through this. Honestly, I feel fitter now than ever. I’m training one-to-one, my fitness is better, I’m stronger. I’m 18 now, and as a free agent this is a period where I can fully focus on myself, instead of getting ready for training at 3pm and not being home until 10pm or 11pm. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise.’
Deasy started once for Cobh – against Dundalk in a League of Ireland First Division game last season. His only other appearance came against Treaty United. He felt he wasn’t going to get the opportunities he needed to develop.
‘It was just going to be the same story for the third year in a row. I wasn’t going to go through that. It was a pretty easy decision for me,’ he added, as he prepares to return to the States.
‘I have no regrets. It was one of those decisions that I knew straight away was the best call. I feel like this was part of the plan, and it will all work out.’
