SULLANE and Skibbereen Dynamos picked up U14 schoolboys’ Championship and League One trophies last weekend.

The Ballyvourney club was confirmed as 2025 U14 Schoolboys Championship League winners following a high-scoring encounter away to Bunratty United.

Earlier in the week, Bunratty maintained their title push with a terrific 6-1 win away to Ardfield. Brehon O’Mahony scored for Ardfield but a Volodymyr Deidei hat-trick along with James Goggin and TJ Barry strikes helped secure a valuable three points for the visitors.

So, ahead of Saturday’s kick-off, the Schull club enjoyed a one-point lead over Sullane. This was Bunratty’s final league fixture of the campaign while Sullane kicked off knowing they still had one additional game, at home to Togher Celtic, in which to overtake their title opponents.

Nothing less than a victory would secure the title for United and they got off to the best possible start with Adam Whelton converting a 12th-minute penalty. Things got even better for the hosts when Volodymyr Deidei made it 2-0 shortly after. Those early goals elicited a positive Sullane response.

Cole O’Tuama pulled one back and the goals kept coming in a high tempo first half as Beirti De Roiste netted to make it 2-2 at the break.

The second period belonged to Sullane and their top scorer Cole O’Tuama as the young striker completed his hat-trick prior to taking his season total to 20 goals.

4-2 behind, Bunratty responded with James Goggin finding the net. The visitors would not be denied however, as O’Tuama scored for a fourth time to wrap up a 5-3 title-winning triumph for a delighted Sullane and their supporters.

Sullane: B O’Riordan, T O’Tuama, F Sam, F Lucey, S O’Tuama, D Lynch (captain), H Lisovyi, R Twomey, B De Roiste, C O’Tuama, F O’Tuama, L Carey, E O’Cronin, M Buckley.

Skibbereen Dynamos concluded their U14 Schoolboys League One campaign as champions, finishing ahead of Beara United and Riverside Athletic. The Baltimore Road club lost just once in the league, winning six and drawing their seven other fixtures.

That solitary defeat occurred in the champions’ final league outing last Saturday. Carbery Park was the venue for a five-goal cracker in which Riverside Athletic came out on top 3-2.

David Hourihane fired the Dynamos into an early lead, breaking the deadlock inside eight minutes. Fionn Daly brought parity to the score before two goals in as many minutes at either end.

Hourihane’s second strike restored Skibbereen’s lead before Liam Murray levelled matters for a second time. It took a converted Conor Keohane penalty to edge the result 3-2 in Athletic’s favour on an afternoon Skibbereen Dynamos were presented with the 2025 U14 Schoolboys League One trophy.

Skibbereen Dynamos: T Teotonio, T Hayes, L Hedger, C Lynch, L O’Dalaigh, B Twohig (captain), D Hourihane, T Ashe, N Maguire, R Harnedy, S Harnedy, L Hedger, A Molloy, A Hurley, P Hamilton, S Hoebe McAlpine, C Cottrell, J Surowiecki.
