A Kilbrittain man who was prosecuted for the possession of cannabis when gardaí raided a house where he had been staying no longer uses cannabis, a court recently  heard.

Jordan McNamara (29) of Ballynagaragh, Kilbrittain pleaded guilty at Bandon District Court to the possession of cannabis.

Sgt Tom Mulcahy said on October 17th 2024 Det Gda Colin O’Mahony carried out a drugs search at a property at Vrindavana, Boxtown, Kilbrittain.

Cannabis valued at €100 was found in one room.

The accused later went to Bandon Garda Station and told gardaí that the drugs were his.

He was not the intended target of the search and had no previous convictions.

Defence solicitor Donna O’Driscoll said her client does not smoke cannabis any more.

Judge Joanne Carroll struck out the charge and a donation of €100 was paid to the court’s poor box.
