THE Save our Skibbereen (SOS) campaign which is opposing the planning permission given for a plastics factory in the town has been granted leave in the High Court in Dublin for a judicial review of the decision.

The SOS campaign is opposed to the factory, which was granted permission by Cork County Council – permission which was later confirmed by An Bord Pleanala.

The factory, to be built by Daly Plastics Ltd, is for a site located at Poundlick, on the Baltimore side of the town.

Following An Bord Pleanala’s decision to confirm Cork County Council’s planning permission, the group launched a fund-raising campaign for the judicial review.

It set an initial target of €15,000 to launch the bid to secure a judicial review and as of today (Monday) a total of €16,984 had been raised.

The case will come up again in the High Court in March.
