Food blogger Kate Ryan has decided to combine our fascination with food with the demand for more dating options.

Her company,, is organising another one of its popular Supper Clubs, but this time there’s a twist!

Teaming up with chef Izaak Bradley and the team at Scannell’s Bar in Clonakilty, is organising a unique Speed Dating event for Food Lovers on Monday February 8th.

The event is based on the classic concept of ‘Speed Dating’ – whereby each person spends a few mintues chatting to the person opposite, before moving one space up, to meet the next guest.

This time around, singles will get ten minutes to mingle over a series of tapas-style ‘speedy eats’ and will have a card to mark after each one, saying if they are interested in another meet-up or not.

‘Nothing brings people together like good food, and with Izaak delivering great things to eat, it will be a fun night,’ says Kate.

‘Even if you don’t find a perfect match, you will have had a great time eating delicious food and meeting new people. You can’t say fairer than that for a Monday night in February!’

Places are limited to 10 ladies and 10 gents, so pre-booking is essential.  The event is €30 per head and includes a free glass of fizzy on arrival, registration and a date card, 10 courses of speedy eats, live music, a free photo booth with props and, of course, date matching.

‘When you register on the night you get a name badge and a number,’ explains Kate. ‘This goes on the top of your date card. At the start of each course, you write down the name or number of the person opposite you.

‘After the date, tick either the Yes (match) or No (no match) box. After all the dates are completed, we will collect up all the date cards and check through to see if there are any matches.’

Kate says the cards won’t be checked til after the event, so there will be no embarrassment caused by ‘no matches’.

‘Where there is a match found, each person will be contacted to let them know and to confirm if they would still like to exchange contact details with their match. The rest is up to them!’
