Cork County Council has issued the following statement today regarding queries about the gritting of National Routes, in recent days:
'Cork County Council does have a responsibility but not on all the National Roads in the County. The National Roads we treat are listed as Priority 1 in our Winter Service Plan and are shown on our website. We do not maintain the Motorways and the high speed dual carriageways.'

The statement was issued following an earlier statement which said the NRA has responsiblity for National Roads and their maintenance.
