Chemist is ‘appy' to offer quick solution for busy customers

THEY say necessity is the mother of invention and with this in mind, Dan Cleary and his team at Cleary’s Pharmacy in Skibbereen have come up with a very 21st century option for their customers.

‘It all started when a customer, who needed to arrange a collection urgently, took a photo of their prescription and emailed it to me,’ Dan said. 

‘We thought that it would be ideal if we had an app that was specially designed to order prescriptions for collection as easily as pushing one button.’

The new app, which is available to download for free, also allows for customers to set a timer to remind them that they need to refill their prescriptions with their GPs.

‘What we wanted to achieve was simply to give our customers a time saving option,’ Dan said. ‘The app is very easy to use and as well as helping with prescriptions, you can also see what’s available throughout the shop or you can arrange an appointment at our beauty room.’

The new app also lets customers know about special offers at the shop in Skibbereen and there is even a facility where you can ask the team a Cleary’s for advice and support. ‘We have over 150 people already signed up and using the app,’ Dan said. ‘You can call in and we’ll help you download the app if you want to. Remember the whole shop is now online you can purchase anything and then just drop in and collect it. You can use the app to ask general questions and we are there to help and there are also links to all our other services. This is a great way to help our customers manage their medication. The app is another way to save time and to ensure that no matter what you need, or where you are, you can arrange for your prescription to be filled and ready for collection.’
