SULLANE won the 2025 SuperValu West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League’s U14 Schoolgirls Premier League trophy by completing a two-legged win over Clonakilty AFC last weekend.
The Ballyvourney club entered last Saturday’s second leg at home to their U14 Schoolgirls Premier League title-rivals following a terrific 6-3 win in Ballyvackey seven days before.
Sullane got off to a flier courtesy of an Abbie Scanlon opener after six minutes. Clonakilty pushed hard for a leveller but were unable to find a way past their opposing defence. Additional Rionach White and Aisling Kelleher efforts plus a second Scanlon strike rounded off a 4-0 Sullane victory.

An amazing end to the 2025 U14 Schoolgirls Championship Division saw Lyre Rovers and Drinagh Rangers serve up an instant classic at Canon Crowley Park.
The sides were level heading into the second leg following a 2-2 draw in Lyre the previous week.
It was still level at half time in the return leg with Laoise Young cancelling out Alice O’Sullivan’s opener for Lyre.
The second period proved just as tight and ended 2-2 after Leah Buttimer (Lyre) and Leah McCarthy (Drinagh) found the net. Extra-time was needed to decide the outcome where, once again, two evenly matched teams could not be separated.
Heidi Doyle looked to have won it for the visitors until a Nell Kinsella goal saw a cracking second leg conclude at 3-3 and require a penalty shootout.
There, Lyre Rovers emerged 4-3 winners on spot kicks, after sudden death, to claim the U14 Schoolgirls Championship trophy after a titanic battle.
Lyre Rovers: C Werner, B Murphy, F McCarthy, L Sutton, L Buttimer, A Murphy, K Ponton (captain), H O’Connell, R McCarthy, H Doyle, A O’Sullivan, A Murphy, E Whelton, K Walsh, S Walsh, E Draper, G O’Brien, A Bishop.
