FIVE Jack Allen goals helped Castlelack edge Lyre Rovers to win the 2025 West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League U14 Schoolboys Premier Division title on penalties at Canon Crowley Park.

Twelve goals, a red card, extra-time and non-stop drama, this year’s U14 Schoolboys Premier Division title decider had it all.

Castlelack and Lyre Rovers produced one of the matches of the season under floodlights at Canon Crowley Park. It was the Brinny club who emerged victorious following a penalty shootout victory.

Jack Twomey opened the scoring for Castlelack before Rovers’ Dara Ryan equalised. Jack Allen pushed the former back in front prior to a second Lyre leveller, via Iarla McInerney. Allen’s second goal made it 3-2 to the Brinny club at the interval.

McInerney levelled matters for a third time and things were looking good for Lyre when Michael Ryan made it 4-3.

Jack Allen had other ideas however and netted twice more to restore his team’s advantage.

A late Dara Ryan effort made it five apiece and took the final to extra-time. Each side scored once during the additional periods, Jack Allen for Castlelack and Tim Crowley for Rovers.

6-6 at the end of extra-time meant penalties were required to decide the outcome. Castlelack held their nerve and won a cracking shootout 5-4 to conclude a marathon encounter as U14 Schoolboys Premier Division champions.
