CLONAKILTY AFC produced a terrific second leg display to claim the 2025 SuperValu West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League U16 Schoolboys Plaque trophy.
The Ballyvackey club was 3-0 down to Castlelack entering the second leg of last week’s U16 Schoolboys Plaque final.
Drinagh Rangers’ newly installed floodlit astroturf pitch at Canon Crowley Park facilitated a rearranged midweek second leg in which the Brinny club kicked off as favourites to win the trophy.

A tough, physical encounter, played out amid difficult weather conditions, produced two goals in the opening half.
Darragh Keohane reduced the deficit and simultaneously handed Clonakilty an early second leg lead. Castlelack hit back via a Daniel Kiely leveller to make it 1-1 (and 4-1 on aggregate) at the break.
The second half belonged to the Ballyvackey club however, who embarked on a third quarter scoring spree.
Alex O’Regan netted before Darragh Keohane scored his second goal of the evening. Next, O’Regan was on hand to make it 4-4 on aggregate from the penalty spot.
Unable to stem the tide, Castlelack were powerless to prevent Luke O’Regan from finding the net after 62 minutes.
Another Luke O’Regan strike edged a rampant Clonakilty two clear on aggregate shortly after. Castlelack’s Sean Platt got his name on the scoresheet late on but it was too little, too late.
Clonakilty AFC held on for a famous (6-5) triumph and were presented with the U16 Schoolboys Plaque trophy shortly after the final whistle.
