Bay Rovers were crowned this season’s U16 Premier Division champions following a two-legged victory over Dunmanway Town.

Prior to the second leg, the Kealkill club registered a 3-1 win on their home ground thanks to a Dominic Placzek brace and Brendan Harrington effort.

Dunmanway hosted the second and deciding leg of the U16 Schoolboys Premier Division trophy decider which turned into a nine-goal extravaganza.

Both sides attacked at the earliest opportunity resulting in an end-to-end encounter. Bay Rovers enjoyed the better start and moved 5-1 ahead on aggregate after Con Desmond and Brendan Harrington found the net.

Admirably, Dunmanway Town responded and turned a 2-0 second leg deficit into a 3-2 lead courtesy of two Eanna Hayes goals and an Alex Bramoulle strike. Hayes completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot but it wasn’t enough to prevent a resurgent Bay Rovers from retaking control.

Three unanswered goals, from Shane O’Brien, Ruairi O’Brien and Leo Mena, clinched Rovers’ terrific 5-4 second leg win and 8-5 aggregate victory. The Premier Division champions could yet add another trophy to their cabinet if they overcome Clonakilty AFC in this season’s U16 Schoolboys Shield final.
