A WEST Cork man caught in possession of videos and images of child pornography has been sent forward for trial to Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

The 43-year-old accused, who cannot be named, appeared at a recent sitting of Bandon District Court charged with the possession of 36 videos and 39 images of child pornography on September 19th 2023.

Judge Joanne Carroll was informed that the director of public prosecutions had indicated trial on indictment. 

She was informed by the accused’s solicitor that he would be pleading guilty but she issued an alibi warning. He must notify the State within 14 days of service of the book of evidence if he intends to rely on an alibi during his trial.

She remanded him on bail in his own bond of €500 to the next sittings of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing October 29th next.
