Eddie Goggin and Kevin Coffey win Carbery Footballer and Hurler of the Year awards

Carbery's finest hurlers and footballers honoured at annual awards night

GABRIEL Rangers’ hot-shot Eddie Goggin was named 2016 Carbery Junior Footballer of the Year and St Oliver Plunkett’s stalwart Kevin Coffey scooped the 2016 Carbery Junior Hurler of the Year award at the division’s annual All-Star awards at the Westlodge Hotel, Bantry on Saturday night.

It was the second year of these annual awards that recognise that achievements and heroics of junior players in the division from the past season.

Also on the night, South West and Cork JAFC champions Gabriel Rangers dominated the 2016 Westlodge Hotel Carbery Junior Football All-Star team, which was named as follows: Darren O’Mahony (Gabriel Rangers); Sean Harrington (St Colum’s), Niall Hayes (Kilmacabea), Cathal Newman (Gabriel Rangers); Michael Casey (St Colum’s), Richard Moynihan (Gabriel Rangers), Liam Hegarty (Gabriel Rangers); Stephen O’Mahony (Gabriel Rangers), Alan O’Connor (St Colum’s); Chris Moynihan (Gabriel Rangers), Brian O’Driscoll (Tadhg MacCarthaigh), John Cullinane (Goleen); Mark Cronin (Gabriel Rangers), Noel Griffin (Kilbrittain), Eddie Goggin (Gabriel Rangers).

The 2016 Westlodge Hotel Carbery GAA Junior Hurling All-Star team also received their awards on Saturday night. The team is Vincent Healy (Dohenys); Davy O’Donovan (Kilbree), Shane McSweeney (St Colum’s), Danny Kelly (Kilbree); David O’Mahony (St Colum’s), Conor O’Driscoll (St Oliver Plunkett’s), Jerry McCarthy (Dohenys); Darragh Coakley (Kilbree), Ricky O’Flynn (Ballinascarthy); Dylan Coffey (Kilbree), Kevin Coffey (St Oliver Plunkett’s), MP Keohane (St Oliver Plunkett’s); Sean O’Shea (St Colum’s), Damien O’Gorman (Kilbree) and Darragh Hennessy (Ballinascarthy).
