A yellow weather warning for Cork from 2am to 8am on Tuesday January 20th has the business community and residents in Bantry on high alert.
As this is also a period of high tides – with high tide at 5.44am tomorrow morning – there is a predicted tidal surge.
Pumps will be deployed and sand bags will be available at the usual locations in Wolfe Town Square, New Street and Main Street as of from this evening.
Cork County Council will also have personnel on site during the period of the warning. A spokesperson for the local authority is asking property owners to ensure that all precautionary measures are taken.
