Works are scheduled to begin this year to address the drainage at the bottom of Darrara graveyard.

Cork County Council have confirmed the works, which are needed to deal with ponding and flooding at the graveyard, are scheduled to begin once Council gets funding approval to concrete nearby footpaths.

'Grieving families have had to put up with these persistent issues at Darrara graveyard for far too long, so I’m delighted their campaigning has finally paid off,' Cork South West Deputy Christopher O’Sullivan said.

'There are also access issues that urgently need to be addressed, but that funding is expected to come through this year so today’s news marks a very positive step in the right direction,' he concluded.
