On what was a dry day overhead and good conditions underfoot Bandon Ploughing Association held their 81st annual ploughing match on Sunday 8th March, on the lands of Derek and Victor Lovell, Knockbrown, Bandon.
This was the sixth ploughing match of the 2025/2026 season in the Cork West region and the third of the new year, the competition started at 11am with 30 competitors taking part.

Senior conventional: 1st Kieran Coakley 111 marks, 2nd Ger Kirby 102 marks and 3rd John Murphy with 99 marks.
Intermediate: 1st John A O’Donovan 98 marks, 2nd Leonard Deane 97 marks, 3rd Aidan O’Donovan 88 marks and 4th Jackie O’Driscoll.
Under 28: 1st James Jennings 105 marks, 2nd Noel Nyhan 104 marks and 3rd James O’Sullivan 103 marks.
Under 21: one competitor Samhran O’Farrell with 95 marks.
Ladies: 1st Ellen Nyhan 106 marks and 2nd Katie Hayes 100 marks.
3 Furrow Conventional: 1st Kevin O’Driscoll 89 marks and 2nd Cyril Maguire with 74 marks.
Senior Reversible: 1st Jer Coakley 135 marks and 2nd Liam O’Driscoll 131 marks.
Standard 3 and 4 Furrow Reversible: 1st Ger Lawlor 84 marks, 2nd Patrick Buckley 80 marks and 3rd Cian O’Donovan 66 marks.
