Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to impacted customers following a burst to a water main in Bantry Town.

Uisce Éireann has confirmed that an estimated 500 properties have been affected by a major outage in Bantry.

The burst may impact water supply to homes and businesses in Wolfe Tone Park, Glengarriff Road, Snave and surrounding areas of Bantry.

Expert water services crews have been dispatched, and repair works are expected to be completed by 5pm this afternoon, 18 December.

Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the network recharges.

Niall O’Riordan, Operations Manager for Uisce Éireann has said: “We understand the inconvenience that unplanned outages can have and would like to assure customers that we are doing everything we can to restore the water supply as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. To register as a vulnerable customer or as an alternative contact, visit our Vulnerable Customers page.
