THE incredible diversity of Schull’s 31 businesses will be showcased as part of a special Schull Gifted Christmas campaign.
From December 4th to 23rd there are so many festive, family and community events going on in the town that Schull will become its own advent calendar.
To see what’s behind each door, just click on the QR code, featured in their promotional advert, and see which shop is offering a one-day discount of 20% or 30%, or what treats are in store for children and families looking to celebrate the season.

‘There will be daily offers, or events, from artisan gifts to mince pies behind every door so it gives people a new reason to explore all that Schull has to offer,’ said Amanda Connell of the Schull Projects Group. The Tree of Light switching on ceremony, organised by Schull National School’s parent’s association, will take place outside the Bunratty Inn at 6pm on December 6th.
The following weekend, on December 14th, there will be a special Christmas Fair at O’Regan’s with proceeds going to Schull Hospital.
There will also be seasonal storytelling at 11am at the Worm bookshop. And from 3pm to 5pm on December 15th, children can enjoy decorating gingerbread men at the New Haven restaurant. The event is free but parents can, if they wish, make a donation to Schull’s Meals on Wheels. A new event, a special country market, running the length of Schull’s Main Street, will take place on Sunday December 21st.
‘It is fantastic that everyone is coming together to support this and other events during the month of December,’ said Amanda.
She pointed out that everyone shopping in Schull will receive a free ticket to be in with a chance of winning a huge hamper containing items that can be purchased in the town.
The hamper promises to be truly eclectic, so the lucky winner could expect a pot of paint from Brosnan’s Hardware store to designer jewellery from Enibas, and everything in between.
‘It’s wonderful,’ said Amanda, ‘that everyone has come together to celebrate the festive season with a new initiative that is designed to encourage everyone to shop locals and support local.
‘But Schull Gifted is about more than just shopping,’ she added, ‘it’s about connection, community, and celebrating the incredible people and places that make our town special.’
