A DRONE has captured the huge crowds gathered on the streets of Skibbereen for the homecoming of the O’Donovan brothers last night.
A crowd of over 10,000 lined the streets of the town to watch the open top bus, carrying the Olympic silver medalists, their friends, relations and a small group of press, including the Southern Star’s sports editor Kieran McCarthy, parade through the streets to a reception at the Fairfield market yard.
MC for the event was Ballinhassig native and RTÉ sports presenter Jacqui Hurley, and the brothers were interviewed on stage, along with their coach Dominic Casey.
The spectacular drone footage was captured by Simon O’Shea.
Look out for our special 20-page souvenir supplement on the brothers’ success, with photos of the homecoming, in this week’s Southern Star – out Thursday.
