STUDENTS from Bandon, Ballincollig and Clonakilty recently visited MSD’s site in Brinny where they participated in an ‘Engineer Speed Dating’ event.

During the event, organised to mark the recent Engineers Week, pupils and a teacher from Ballincollig Community School, Sacred Heart in Clonakilty and St Brogan’s, Colaiste na Toirbhirte and Hamilton High School in Bandon were paired with one of MSD’s local engineering experts from Brinny, who gave them clues on what their role was at the site. The students then had five minutes to ask as many questions as possible and match the engineer with their role in MSD.

Following the ‘speed dating’ event, the students got the chance to tour MSD’s state-of-the-art Brinny facility which specialises in the fermentation, purification and sterile filling of biotech products, including two of the company’s most successful treatments for hepatitis C and rheumatoid arthritis. The site also makes products used in clinical studies around the world.
