A CORK city firm has acquired an arm of the Skibbereen-based technology firm Spearline.

Algo Group has acquired Spearline’s risk and compliance division, which was established in May 2018 in response to the introduction of GDPR regulations.

The new division of Algo will be based in the Ludgate Hub in Skibbereen.

Allan Beechinor, chief executive and founder of the Algo Group said: ‘One of the main areas of our business is regulatory compliance solutions for SMEs and large companies’ customers. In acquiring the risk and compliance division of Spearline, we can offer an enhanced solution to our clients, with a new talent pool in West Cork, as we continue to respond to the growing demand for GDPR and privacy by design services and platforms.’

Castlehaven native Kevin Buckley, chief executive of Spearline, said he wished the Algo Group and the Risk and Compliance team every success in the future.

‘Spearline Risk and Compliance had experienced considerable growth in a short period of time since it was established in May 2018 and I have no doubt that the team will thrive in their new home within Algo,’ he added.
