An appeal has been made to An Coimisiún Pleanála against a piggery development at Derryduff in Rosscarbery by a number of locals, including the Derryduff Residents and Neighbours Committee. Lisavaird Co-op were granted planning permission in mid-January to demolish an existing piggery and build a replacement one, with permission to house up to 3,600 animals, over double the capacity of the original facility.
About 25 objections were made against the original planning application, which was ultimately given the go-ahead by Cork County Council. An appeal with An Coimisiún Pleanála was lodged in early February, and a decision is due by June 10th this year.
