Clonakilty and its sausages have gone viral after One Direction star Niall Horan fried up a sizzling Irish breakfast for chef Gordon Ramsay.
The West Cork delicacy got a shout-out in Ramsay’s YouTube series Scrambled, which also showed the celebrity chef having trouble pronouncing the town’s name. The chef, known for his foul-mouthed outbursts, first said ‘Colin-clinkey’ before managing to say ‘Clon-a-quiltey’.
On the show, Mullingar-born Niall said he found English sausages had a lot of seasoning and shared that he was a fan of Irish tea bags and Clonakilty sausages.

‘They’re just lovely and something I grew up on,’ he said.
Clonakilty Blackpudding, the makers of Clonakilty sausages, said they were very happy about the mention and exposure.
‘We were delighted to see Niall Horan giving Clonakilty Sausages a shout‑out on Gordon Ramsay’s cooking show,’ said a spokesperson.
‘It’s such a thrill to have one of Ireland’s biggest stars flying the flag for Irish produce on such a massive stage.
‘We’re incredibly proud of our roots, and moments like this remind us just how far the Clonakilty name has travelled - all the way from West Cork to kitchens around the world!’
In 2014, Niall Horan hit the headlines for requesting Clonakilty sausages and Barry’s Tea on his One Direction backstage rider while on tour.
And clearly, his taste hasn’t changed since then. Fans will now be frying to keep up after he shared his favourite Irish breakfast ingredients…
