A STATUE of Marconi will be unveiled at Brow Head near Crookhaven by Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten TD on Monday, August 28th.

Independent TD, Michael Collins, said the unveiling of the statue made in honour of Guglielmo Marconi, who pioneered long-distance radio transmission from his Marconi House in Crookhaven, will be an important day for the village.

He also confirmed that the minister will be visiting a number of other locations during his visit including Leap Post Office, and also the offices of Ceramicx Ireland in Ballydehob to see their production of energy-efficient heating systems.

‘The minister's visit will be significant,' according to Deputy Collins, ‘because it will be an opportunity for him to meet representatives from local post offices, those seeking improved mobile phone and broadband services, as well as people concerned about proliferation of wind turbines.'
