Excitement was felt across West Cork today as Leaving Cert students opened their results, marking the end of months of hard work.

Across the region students shared the moment with friends and family, while they're now getting ready for this evening’s celebrations.

Schools praised the determination and resilience shown by the students, with teachers celebrating alongside parents and students.

Brandon Grammar School posted online about the significant day, saying that there were smiles all around this morning as the Class of 2026 received their results.

‘We are so proud of all of our students and we wish them the very best of luck as they begin their next chapter,’ the school wrote.

For many, the results represent a long-awaited step towards college, apprenticeships, travel or employment, while others are taking time to consider their next move.

On its website, Sacred Heart Secondary School in Clonakilty praised the students’ great achievements: ‘The excellent results reflect all the hard work, dedication and support. We are delighted for you all. Well done from all at Sacred Heart Secondary School.’

More than 70,000 students across Ireland received their Leaving Cert results today.
