MICHAEL Collins House in Clonakilty is getting into the Hallowe’en spirit by holding a Horrid History Tour from Wednesday October 31st to Saturday November 3rd.
And entry to the museum will be free all week for children.
‘Horrid History Tours delve into the gruesome, the scary and the horrid folk stories and histories of the Irish revolutionary period,’ said Jamie Murphy of Michael Collins House.
‘These special guided tours contain emotive and mature content that details some of the brutal realities of the Irish revolutionary period,’ he added.
Twilight Tours will take place daily at 3pm and 5pm with a special 8pm tour on Wednesday October 31st – only for the very brave.
Jamie added that numbers are limited, so booking in advance is strongly advised to avoid disappointment.
The museum is also celebrating another award, having recently won the 2018 Tourist Attraction of the Year, awarded by The Public Sector magazine – the magazine for public service workers throughout Ireland.
‘This is a great achievement after just two full years in operation, and considering the stiff competition faced throughout Ireland,’ said Jamie. ‘Hopefully this will be the first of many awards for the museum, which has been received positively by over 30,000 visitors since opening in 2016.’
After a very successful summer season, winter opening times return to Michael Collins House. Over the winter period, the museum will open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, with the last admission at 4pm.
