BEARA Gin received a massive boost to business after celebrity Graham Norton posted a picture of their artisan product during his summer break in West Cork.
To accompany a picture of a bottle of their pink gin, the writer and broadcaster wrote: ‘Seems like summer’s not over yet’ – which attracted over 10,000 likes on his Instagram account.
Peter White of Beara Gin, which will shortly celebrate its first year in business, said the company had dozens of queries from around the world after the Bandon man endorsed their product.
‘We had at least 50 enquiries, mainly from the UK and Ireland, but also from the US, as well as two in Hong Kong, wondering where they could buy a bottle,’ said Peter.
Beara Gin, owned by John Power and employing a team of four, is already available throughout Ireland and online in the UK. It is also available in Scandinavia and Jersey and the company has plans to distribute it in Poland and France.
Acknowledging that it’s a busy market, Peter pointed out the gin is made entirely on-site, using foraged fuschia from the Beara Peninsula, and the product is even hand-bottled.
