Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 50s died in a road traffic collision on the R587 near Gloun North, Dunmanway, on Wednesday (August 5th).

The accident happened at around 2.30pm and involved a motorbike and a van.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The road remained closed yesterday afternoon for examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Any motorists travelling in the area between 2.15pm and 3pm, who may have camera footage, including from dash cams, are asked to make it available to gardaí.
