A driver from Kinsale was given a €200 fine for driving without insurance. Caroline McCarthy, of Barrack Green, Kinsale, appeared before Bandon District Court.
The court heard that on August 28th at 11.50pm, gardaí conducted a checkpoint at Long Quay, Kinsale, and Ms McCarthy’s car showed she had no insurance.
The accused had 11 previous convictions, including four for road traffic offences, three for theft and one for failing to appear in court.

Solicitor Plunkett Taaffe, defending, said his client had a full driving licence but had not been able to keep up insurance payments because of financial difficulties.
Judge Joanne Carroll issued a €200 fine, with four months to pay, granting an application for legal aid.
