SKIBBEREEN’S Daniel O’Driscoll was delighted to celebrate his 10th year posting Daniel’s View Photography on Facebook with a commission by Access Credit Union to do their printed calendar for 2026.

With more than 4,000 followers, Daniel’s slice of life shows the best of West Cork as his daily walks and weekly excursions showcase beautiful landscapes and seascapes, but also an artistic take on everyday things.

Of course, there are also his regular posts showing his tipple of choice, tea, with treats from Field’s, where he works, and where his cheery presence would brighten anyone’s day.

Alongside that would be whatever book Daniel was reading that week, but the turnover rate has increased so much in recent years that it is almost a daily posting, causing those of use with stacks of unread books to go into what Homer Simpson would call ‘a shame spiral.’

The 2026 Access Credit Union calendar, which is available in the Skibbereen, Schull and Bandon branches, is what one would expect from Daniel, beautiful images that celebrate the wonderful place in which we all live.

Daniel’s humour comes through too in his characteristically impish style. But for many his myriad images of the Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre, taking it in so many different lights and so many different angles, are worthy of an exhibition in their own right.

Daniel is also one of the first to post new developments in his native Skibbereen, or indeed Schull, where he grew up, such as the new speed ramps that has everyone talking at Cork Road, or the recent 80th birthday celebrations of his boss, John Field.
