A number of seasonal routes are kicking off this week.

Next Monday, Aer Lingus will start its new service to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.

Four popular Ryanair summer routes will restart from Cork - to Carcassonne, La Rochelle, Rhodes and Zadar.

This weekend will also see a large influx of international visitors touching down at Cork Airport as holidaymakers arrive to enjoy all that the South of Ireland has to offer.

Locally, the Cork Harbour Festival takes place between May 30 and June 8 – the largest and most vibrant celebration of Cork's maritime culture and heritage.

Further west in Kinsale, the Kinsale Trad Festival takes place from May 31st – June 1st, as the town comes alive in celebrating traditional Irish music and culture.

Ahead of the busy June Bank Holiday weekend, Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director at Cork Airport said: 'Once again, the summer is upon us and we are ready to welcome our June Bank Holiday weekend influx of passengers. Visitors this week were marvelling at the summer sunshine and we hope for a repeat again in the week ahead.

'As post-primary schools finish for the summer, we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of families from across the South of Ireland and beyond as they head off on their well-deserved holidays. '
