WELLNESS Week was recently celebrated at Coláiste na Toirbhirte in Bandon highlighting the strong emphasis placed, not only on academic success, but also on the wellbeing of the school’s students.
While the school is well known for its excellent Leaving Certificate results each year, equal importance is placed on supporting students’ mental and physical health.
Throughout the week, students took part in a number of activities promoting healthy lifestyles and positive wellbeing. Healthy breakfast options were available, helping students to start the school day with a nutritious boost.

First year students enjoyed a walk along the Clare O’Leary Walkway, making the most of the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. The walkway, a fabulous facility provided by Cork County Council, was greatly enjoyed by all and is a wonderful amenity for the local community. The week concluded with a Bake Off on Friday, where students showcased their baking skills. The winning entry was an impressive three-tier lemon sponge cake filled with lemon buttercream and lemon curd, which proved a very popular choice with the judges. Wellness Week was a great success and once again demonstrated the strong sense of community within the school. Events such as this help to ensure that while academic excellence remains a priority, the overall wellbeing of our students continues to be at the heart of school life.
