CLONAKILTY Mayor Conan O’Donovan handed out his first awards in the role last week with recognition for a number of groups and individuals.

These included Clonakilty Guitar Festival which is celebrating 21 years, the local Post Office on its centenary and Lisavaird Co-op for the same reason, and the local Park Run which has passed the 500 milestone.

Individual recipients included Odhran Scully, national 1,500m champion Laura Nicholson, Diarmaid Cregan, chairperson of Clonakilty Tidy Towns, and Caroline Hayes, a volunteer at the local resource centre.
