A beautiful Charolais bullock born out of a Belgian Blue cow is to be auctioned at Macroom Mart on Saturday as a fundraiser for Beara girl, Féile O’Sullivan.

Husband and wife Daniel Power and Edwina Patterson from Dunmanway came up with the novel idea of donating a fatstock bullock, a show animal, no less, to be sold in Macroom Mart at around 2pm next Saturday, October 25th.

This sale of this rather special bullock could, under normal circumstances, make €3,500, but a generous buyer on the show circuit could push the price considerably.

The money will be donated directly to the StandForFéile fundraising campaign that was set up to provide support for the 13-year-old girl from Allihies, who sustained numerous injuries and had both legs amputated after a farming accident in July.

‘We are farmers and Féile is from a farming background. She was big in the GAA, and we sponsor St Colum’s in Kealkil, so we thought it would be a good idea to support her,’ said Daniel.

‘Féile’s story touched us and after having a great season we decided to sell one of our six animals in the ring for her,’ Daniel added.

‘Lots of people have rallied to help Féile and her family with her medical treatments, specialist equipment, and home adaptations.

‘They have a long road ahead of them, but throughout it all Féile has shown tremendous courage and she will, I have no doubt, overcome this.’

The sale will be steamed via the Marteye App, so if there are any buyers on the show circuit they will need to tune in before 2pm.

The sale is being kindly sponsored by Cork Marts, CCM Property Networks, Donnacha Creed of Natural Nutrition, and Collins Print Cork.
