EMERGENCY response teams attended a serious road traffic incident at Aughaville, outside Drimoleague, this evening after a bus hit a ditch trapping an estimated 15 passengers inside.
It is understood that the Bus Eireann vehicle may have been pulling in when it rolled an estimated 20 degrees onto a ditch. Because the exit door was resting against the ditch, the passengers had to wait until emergency crews, which included the National Ambulance Service, various fire brigades, and West Cork Rapid Response, to release them from the vehicle.
No injuries have been reported and it is also understood that no one was brought to hospital, not even as a precautionary measure. But the passengers were undoubtedly shocked by the event, which happened at about 7.30pm this evening, as they travelled from Bantry in the direction of Drimoleague.
