EARLIER this year, Bantry Bay Sailing Club member and Bantry Lifeboat crew Charlie Daly made a lifelong dream come true when he completed a solo circumnavigation of Ireland by sea kayak.
Besides being a personal challenge, the trip was also a fundraiser for Parkinson’s disease research through the Michael J Fox Foundation.
On Wednesday November 19th at 7pm, Charlie will be giving a talk at the Marino Church, Wolfe Tone Square about his trip and he will share lessons from a lifetime of sea kayaking.

He will detail his preparation and training and answer any questions about how to plan an adventure of your own.
The event is free but donations are welcome to cover venue hire.
When Charlie is ashore, he works as a ghostwriter, helping veterans, adventurers, and survivors tell their stories.
He is the co-author of I Will Follow You Anywhere: The True Story of the 9/11 Responders Who Took on Congress by John Feal with Charles Daly, foreword by Jon Stewart (2026).
His travel writing has been featured in The Boston Globe.
