SCHULL is gearing up for one of the summer’s most exciting weekends as its annual regatta takes place on Saturday and Sunday August 8th and 9th, with two days of free, family friendly entertainment in the scenic coastal village.

Visitors and locals alike can enjoy maritime traditions — net mending, the heaving line, the blessing of the boats, and the thrilling raft race.

On Sunday, the harbour becomes the centre of competitive sailing with the South West Coastal Yawl Championships.

A new experience, Trad on the Pier, will include a vibrant open air music session, a hands on drum and dance workshop, and guided coastal foraging along Schull’s shoreline.

Festival favourites return, including Wobbly Circus, Let’s Dance, and Sink or Skim, alongside regular staples such as the art competition, crab fishing, treasure hunt, greasy pole, junior sailing, fancy dress, and tug o’ war.

The weekend culminates with live music on Pier Road and a dazzling fireworks finale on Sunday night — a perfect close to a vibrant coastal celebration.

A committee spokesperson said: ‘Schull Regatta is a celebration of community, tradition, and fun — a weekend where families, locals, and visitors come together to enjoy the very best of West Cork. We’re proud to keep these traditions alive while introducing new activities that make each year special.’
