A jam-packed itinerary is in store for you this weekend.

With Mother's Day and St Patrick's Day coming up, there's plenty of great events to choose from.

This week's events include a school musical, an evening of storytelling, an afternoon tea dance and a pop-up Gaeltacht.

The Little Mermaid Musical - Thursday March 12th - Saturday March 14th

The SCS TY Musical, The Little Mermaid takes place in Skibbereen Community School on March 12th, 13th and 14th.

Showtime is at 7.30pm all three nights.

This promises to be a truly wonderful event, showcasing the incredible talent, energy and hard work of the Transition Year students.

Mother's Day - Sunday March 15th

Just in case you forgot, this Sunday March 15th in Mother's Day in Ireland.

Make sure to treat your loved one to a day out, a nice meal or even just a bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion, and show our mothers and grandmothers how much we appreciate them.

The Art of Ancient Storytelling - Sunday March 15th

Local poet Mary McCarthy presents an afternoon of ancient stories and poetry in Ár n-Áit, Skibbereen.

It takes place this Sunday March 15th from 2pm-3pm. If you can't make it this week, the storytelling afternoon repeats the following weekend, on Sunday March 22nd.

The Ballroom of Romance - Sunday March 15th

The First Wives Club presents the Ballroom of Romance, a tea dance in support of the Newcestown Film Awards.

The afternoon of dancing and fun, which begins at 3.30pm in the Newcestown Parish Hall, is open to all ages, with drinks and refreshments being served as well.

Tickets are €20 and can be bought at the door or from O'Mahony's Bar in Newcestown.

 

 

Pop-Up Gaeltacht - Sunday March 15th

As Seachtain na Gaeilge kicks into gear, D'alton's Corner House in Schull will host a pop-up Gaeltacht this Sunday March 15th at 7pm.

All are welcome to give their Gaeilge a try and take part in the Ciorcal Comhrá.

 

St. Patrick's Day - Tuesday March 17th

Our national holiday will see celebrations take place across the country.

West Cork towns and villages will all host their own parades.

The Southern Star will have a 2-page St Patrick's Day photo special on Thursday March 19th, so be sure to pick up your copy in stores.
