Inspired by a visit to West Cork, Italian radio producer Giovanni Vallone has created a fantastical book and documentary to celebrate the region's unique culture and traditions.
The project, titled 'Inspector Pedro and the search for the elusive green bone,' follows the journey of a dog named Inspector Pedro, who is tasked by a 'Dogfather' from Palermo to find a legendary green bone.
His quest leads him to West Cork, a land that captures his heart.

Pedro's mission turns into a battle against the forces of bureaucracy and globalisation, personified by the villainous Philippinus Brucselloni von Burocratibus.
With the help of locals, animals, and fairies, known as 'The Other Crowd'.
Pedro searches for the green bone, a symbol of West Cork’s identity. The story is a "tragicomical" adventure filled with peculiar characters and events.
Vallone, who fell in love with West Cork after a holiday, describes the book and documentary as an 'act of love' for the people and the landscape.
He notes that the book, adapted into English by Áine Brosnan, is a 'fantasmagoria' that aims to introduce people worldwide to this 'wonderful world apart.'
The documentary, which was filmed in various locations across West Cork, is available to watch now on the Inspector Pedro YouTube channel.
The book is currently seeking a publisher, with Vallone noting that over 130 copies have already been pre-ordered through social media.
