A KINSALE man admitted cannabis and an LSD tablet found in his home during a garda search were his and for his own personal use.

Daniel Hermanski (45) of Haven Hill, Summercove, Kinsale pleaded guilty at Bandon District Court to possession.

Sgt Eimear O’Connell told the court that at 5.15pm on May 1st 2024 the accused’s home was searched by gardaí under Section 26 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. She said the value of the LSD tablet was €10, while the cannabis was valued at €100.

The court was told that his previous convictions apart from road traffic matters, all arose from an incident earlier on the same day, which had led to the warrant being issued for his home in Kinsale.

Mr Hermanski had received a three-year suspended sentence for the possession of €2,500 worth of cocaine for sale or supply, and a suspended four-year term for money
laundering.

Defence solicitor Éamonn Fleming said his client has two jobs, one in construction and another as a personal trainer in order to support his daughter who is at university in Dublin. He said Mr Hermanski is paying rent for his home in Kinsale and for his daughter in Dublin.

‘His relationship with his wife had broken down at the time of this incident. He was in a bad way and got involved in the sale and supply of drugs. He has put his hands up and has no addictions,’ said Mr Fleming.

Judge Carroll directed him to enter a probation bond for 18 months on the cannabis charge, and convicted and fined him €225 for the possession of LSD.
