MUNSTER Technological University (MTU) has recorded outstanding results in the Knowledge Transfer Ireland annual survey, cementing its position as a leader in research, innovation, and industry engagement across Ireland.

MTU ranked first in overall research expenditure in 2024, spending almost €33m on research in 2024.

MTU also led the way in research income derived from industry (€2.5m), reflecting the university’s strong collaborative relationships with business and enterprise partners.

MTU was also the second-highest performing university nationally for innovation vouchers, with 49 voucher projects with companies across the region.

Overall MTU commenced 77 new collaborative research projects with industry in 2024.

Its four technology gateways are the main drivers of these projects with industry.

In addition, MTU achieved the highest number of Licences, Options and Assignments (LOAs) of new technology to enterprise, among all technological universities, executing 12 LOAs in 2024.
