FLYING from Cork airport will be easier than ever this summer, thanks to new technical equipment installed at the terminal.

After significant investment, the airport has enhanced passenger experience by improving the airport’s Wi-Fi and introducing a new car park booking system, self-service bag drop kiosks for Aer Lingus and a new airbridge.

The new Wi-Fi hardware will provide passengers with higher internet speeds and triple the amount of access points across the terminal, making it easier for passengers to stream music, movies and television shows and work efficiently on laptops, tablets or phones.

Last month, a new car park booking solution was introduced to Cork Airport. The new system includes automatic number plate recognition technology, which makes it quicker for drivers to access any of the three car parks at the airport. Customers no longer need to present their credit card on entry to the car parks as the vehicle’s number plate will be automatically read.

Inside the terminal, passengers flying with Aer Lingus can now check in with ease at the express bag check-in kiosks. In a few simple steps, passengers can weigh, tag and check-in their bags using the Aer Lingus app on their phones.

Cork Airport has also acquired a third airbridge, which will provide easier and convenient access for passengers when boarding or disembarking an aircraft. The €1.4 million investment will be located at gate 6 and will become operational over the coming weeks.

Commenting on the various infrastructural improvements, Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director at Cork Airport said: ‘Offering the best passenger experience is never a completed task. We need to keep on improving, innovating and changing so more and more passengers choose the convenience and friendliness of Cork Airport.’

Cork Airport won the title of Europe’s Best Regional Airport in 2025. It supports flights to 50 destinations with 8 different airlines.
