THE former boss of Clonakilty-based fin-tech company Global Shares Tim Houstoun has left his director role to invest in other Irish companies.
The West Cork start-up is a huge success story, having developed into a global financial technology player with offices in 15 countries including London, Beijing and Tokyo.
Mr Houstoun reportedly netted a huge windfall following JP Morgan’s $730m acquisition of Global Shares.

He joined the firm in 2009 and employees were informed of his retirement last month.
Vince La Padula, CEO of JP Morgan Workplace Solutions, said: ‘Since becoming vice chair of Workplace Solutions, Tim’s vision and commitment have shaped our organisation, driving its strategic expansion, empowering employees and deepening client relationships across the firm.
‘The impact Tim has made lives on in the foundation he helped shape.’
