THE West Cork Academy has announced its U12 schoolboys squad for the forthcoming 2025/26 SFAI national and provincial inter-league competitions.
This season’s squad is made of up players - having come through a successful series of trials – drawn from ten West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League clubs.
Skibbereen have four representatives with Bay Rovers, Beara United, Castlelack, Clonakilty AFC, Drinagh Rangers, Dunmanway Town and Lyre Rovers providing three players each. Bunratty United and Riverside Athletic have one player each in this year’s U12 Academy lineup.

This past season, the West Cork Academy U12 schoolboys produced terrific displays against English Premier League club Arsenal and Scottish Premier side Rangers during a productive June Bank Holiday trip to Belfast.
It is going to be another busy season for the West Cork Academy with news that the region’s U11s and U12s will be involved in SFAI Inter-League campaigns.

On a weekend all of Sunday’s scheduled SFAI National Schoolboys Trophy ties were postponed, some WCSSL clubs managed to complete their ties 24 hours before.
Ardfield Mountaineers are through to the third round of the U13 National Schoolboys Cup courtesy of a superb 2-0 win away to Ballincollig.
Alexander O’Brien and Joshua Bobrowski goals sent the West Cork club through.
Carrigaline ended Riverside Athletic’s U13 National Schoolboys Cup ambitions following a 4-0 defeat. Eoghan Hurley scored for Castlelack in their 3-1 loss at home to Mallow United in the same competition.
Sonny Crowley and Sean Collins found the net in Lyre Rovers’ U13 National Schoolboys Cup loss to Cork Schoolboys League side Corinthians (5-2).

Lyre Rovers produced a marvellous display to defeat Rathcoole Rovers 8-1 in the U15 National Schoolboys Cup.
Dara Ryan netted a hat-trick with Patrick O’Leary, Issac McInerney, Sean Galwey and Micheal Ryan also getting their names on Lyre’s scoresheet.
Michael O’Shea and Brehon O’Mahony strikes weren’t enough to keep Ardfield in the U15 National Schoolboys Cup following a 5-2 loss at home to Midleton.
Dunmanway Town were another West Cork team to lose out, going down 2-0 away to Carrigaline despite producing an excellent display.
Matthew Kelleher and Robert Leahy netted in Clonakilty AFC’s 5-2 U15 Schoolboys National Cup loss to Mayfield in Ballyvackey.
St Mary’s knocked Castlelack out of the U16 Schoolboys National Cup 3-1 despite Conor Murphy scoring for the Brinny club.
