‘There was no active insurance policy in place and his car was seized and summons were issued for the offence,’ said Sgt Mulcahy.
The court heard he has 14 previous convictions including two for driving without insurance, theft and the possession of stolen property.
Mr Valsevics said he thought he was insured but it turned out that his insurance company cancelled the policy.
‘I didn’t produce my full driving licence and didn’t see their message,’ said Mr Valsevics.
Judge Joanne Carrol convicted him of driving without insurances and disqualified him from driving for two years and fined him €250 giving him three months to pay the fine.
Recognisances in the event of an appeal were fixed in the defendant’s own bond of €100.
