A REGULAR Tuesday lunchtime took an exciting turn for a West Cork joinery when they found out one of their clients would be featured on national television.
Kieran Hourihane of Cloháne Wood Products said that on Tuesday, March 10th, he received an email informing them that their products would be showcased in that evening’s episode of RTÉ’s Home of the Year.
The company are a Skibbereen-based specialist joinery who design, manufacture and install interiors for both commercial and residential properties.

Cloháne crafted and installed the kitchen and utility for a county Cork house which featured on Home of The Year.
The Scandi-style home was built by Kate and Ross, parents to three daughters, and they used a palette of white and organic hues throughout the property to achieve a sleek, modern feel.
Kieran said that the home’s feature on television was ‘fantastic’.
‘The place turned out really, really well,’ he added. ‘The client, Kate, had a very good eye for finishing it off, you know, the furnishing and everything was very nice.’
Although the home did not make it to the highly-competitive final, the nod from RTÉ and the esteemed panel of judges was a huge honour in itself. Series 12 of Home of the Year was completed a year before the death of one of its judges, Hugh Wallace. The architect, who passed away in December 2025, had previously worked on a project with Cloháne Wood Products.
Speaking on Hugh Wallace’s untimely death, Kieran said he was ‘very sad to see he had passed. I think he was a very good man, and very, very, very good at what he did.’
